Fresh Gulf shrimp season has come to a close. Today, for the last time until crawfish season, we will be set up from 11-6 with 16/20 fresh/frozen Alabama Gulf whites for $6/lb. Crawfish Update for Birmingham/Tuscaloosa: Most of last year's (older/stronger) crop has been caught over the last few weeks, leaving the new/younger crop. Being younger, the shells are much softer -making it difficult for transport over several hundred miles without killing them. Birmingham, live Louisiana crawfish are back. They will be touch-and-go for a few months but we will do our best with quantity and quality. The batch last week had some of the new crop, ranging from small to medium in size, and very tender. It also contained some of last year's crop, with medium to med-large sizing, and a much thicker shell. We experienced about 2 pounds loss per sack, after being fished/caught 48 hours earlier. Pricing will be at its peak, but then again this is the third week of the season and rarely does the early crop make it out of the state of Louisiana. $5.75/lb for live by the sack, or $6.75/lb for less than a sack. We will only be open/boiling on Friday from 11-6. $10 plates include corn/potatoes and tax. Preorders are a must with the very limited supply. ... See MoreSee Less
